Resistance Band Color Comparator
Resistance band colors look standardized — most people assume yellow is always light and black is always heavy. It isn't standardized at all. We fetched three brands' own current pages directly and found that the same color word can sit at opposite ends of a brand's own lineup: TheraBand's own "Red" is rated 3.7 lbs, one of its three lightest bands out of eight; Fit Simplify's own "Red" is rated 25-30 lbs, its single heaviest band out of five. Buy by color name alone across brands and you can end up with a band ten times stronger, or weaker, than you meant.
Where the color names collide
This table doesn't depend on what you typed above — it's the three brands' own stated figures for every color more than one of them uses, read straight off their own pages.
| Color | TheraBand | Fit Simplify | Bodylastics |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yellow | 3.0 lbs | 2-4 lbs | 3-10 lbs |
| Red | 3.7 lbs | 25-30 lbs | 8-30 lbs |
| Green | 4.6 lbs | 10-12 lbs | 5-20 lbs |
| Blue | 5.8 lbs | 4-6 lbs | 13-50 lbs |
| Black | 7.3 lbs | 15-20 lbs | 19-80 lbs |
Yellow is the one color that roughly agrees across all three — every brand puts it near the bottom of its own lineup. Red does not: it's near the bottom for TheraBand and mid-pack for Bodylastics, but the single heaviest color Fit Simplify sells.
What this does not do
- It compares one product line per brand — TheraBand's CLX/Professional line, Fit Simplify's loop band set, and Bodylastics's individual tube bands — not every product each brand sells under that color name.
- TheraBand's figures are a rated value at a specified elongation (a fixed stretch amount), not a usable range the way the other two brands state theirs; treat the TheraBand column as one calibrated point, not a spread.
- It does not tell you which band is right for an exercise or a fitness level — only what each brand's own page says its color is rated for.
