Knife Sharpening Angle Comparator
Nearly every knife-sharpening angle calculator we could find (Tool Croze, Handy Chefdom, and others, all checked directly) works from generic knife-shape presets — "Gyuto," "Western Chef," "Santoku" — with a number attached to the shape, not to a named manufacturer. None let you check what a specific brand's own current page actually says.
The static guides that do name brands don't match the brands' own pages
The most detailed brand-by-brand table we found, knifecarehub.com's own comparison chart,
lists Wüsthof at 20° and Zwilling J.A. Henckels at 20°. Fetched directly, Wüsthof's own current
page states 14° and Zwilling's own current page states 15° — a 6° and 5° gap. We can't explain the
difference (it may reflect a more durable resharpening angle some guides prefer over a factory
edge, a distinction neither page states outright), so we're not asserting either side is wrong. We
show only what each brand's own page says today, with the date checked, not a third party's
restatement of it.

What this does not do
- It compares one standard line and one named Asian-style/exception line per brand, not every model each brand sells. A specialty line can carry a different edge angle from the one shown here.
- Global's own page states a 10–15° range, not a single number — this tool treats any angle inside that range as an exact match, because that is what Global's own page says, not because we picked a midpoint.
- It compares the manufacturer's own stated angle to the angle your sharpener is set to. It does not verify what angle your sharpener is actually cutting at — that depends on your equipment and technique, not this page.
- These are edge-geometry specifications, not a claim about which angle is "better." A more acute angle is typically sharper but more fragile; a more obtuse one holds up longer but cuts less finely. Neither brand's page frames it that way, so this page doesn't either.
