Umbrella Wind Rating Comparator
"How much wind can this umbrella take?" answers are almost always one vague number in a buying guide. The brands' own pages tell a messier story: Frankford's own current page states eleven separate "engineered to withstand" figures for eleven named models — not one number for the whole brand — ranging from 15 mph to 50 mph. No interactive tool found lets a reader enter their own expected wind speed and see which named models actually clear it; the closest pages (Frankford's own guide, Shadowspec's and Instashade's blog explainers) are static tables and prose.
Treasure Garden: the one major brand with no row above
Treasure Garden's own customer support page, fetched directly, states no wind speed figure anywhere — only that it "highly recommends that no umbrella, regardless of size or weight, ever be left unattended in the open position," and that wind damage isn't covered under warranty. One of the best-known patio umbrella brands publishes no number to check against your own wind forecast, unlike every brand shown above.

What this does not do
- It covers patio, cantilever and market umbrellas only — the kind mounted in a table or a weighted base. Beach umbrellas (sand-anchored — beachBUB's own page states 44 mph, wind-tunnel tested) and travel/personal umbrellas (Repel, Totes, Weatherman) are a different product category with a different failure mode and are not mixed in here.
- Frankford's several "with Wind Stabilizer Kit" figures (an optional accessory that raises some models' own rating by 5 mph) are not shown — every row here is each model's base rating with no add-on required, so the comparison stays on the same terms brand to brand.
- Tuuci's Solanox line is excluded — it's a pergola, not an umbrella, even though Tuuci's own warranty page states a figure for it (up to 100 mph) on the same page as its umbrella lines.
- "Wind rating" does not mean the same test on every page here. Frankford and Tuuci's per-line figures are stated as an engineering design threshold ("engineered to withstand," a warrantied limit); Bambrella's is stated as a wind-tunnel test result. A design threshold and a lab test-to-failure are not the same claim, even when both are called a "wind rating."
- Galtech, Santa Barbara Designs and Shademaker were checked and are not shown — no mph figure could be confirmed on Galtech's or Santa Barbara Designs' own pages, and Shademaker's own linked "Wind Scale" PDF could not be read as text this session (see the code comment on this page for what was tried).
- These are the makers' own stated limits under their own stated conditions (Frankford's own page notes ratings assume the umbrella is upright, not tilted), not a guarantee for your specific base, mount or install.
